Script-Com 2026: The South's Best Screenwriting Conference Is Back!

The Tennessee Screenwriting Association ("TSA"), an educational not-for-profit 501c(3) since 1988, announces its annual Script-Com Screenwriters Conference to be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at Nashville Film Institute.

The conference began as one piece of the larger Film-Com film market alongside several other film, video, and music-related organizations. During the pandemic, Script-Com went into lockdown as a virtual event. But then in 2024, Script-Com returned to the real world and drew over 120 people to a robust in-person conference packed with industry pro screenwriters, producers, directors and instructors, making it one of the most well-attended and dynamic events of its kind in the South.

Last year, Script-Com expanded to a week-long conference of online and in-person events, again drawing industry giants across multiple genres and budgets alongside an awards & recognition program, a film festival, and even a documentary film shoot featuring the founding members of the Tennessee Screenwriting Association.

This time, Script-Com drills down on what to do with a script after its been written (and rewritten and rewritten again!). Conference attendees will get up close and personal with producers, directors, and managers who are actually making and releasing narrative films and find out what they look for in scripts, how to gear a story towards the budget needs of smaller production companies, and why marketing, packaging and distribution are - for better or worse - all relevant to a screenwriter and the stories they tell.

After the roundtables, attendees are invited to the Awards & Recognition Dinner to salute the dozens of TSA members who have placed in script competitions, pitch events, and got their scripts produced and filmed in 2026. We will announce the Honor Roll students who completed TSA's Script School program, and we'll announce the winner of this year's Short 'N Scary script contest, which is still accepting entries and will have the winning script produced in 2027.

The conference will conclude with another edition of the Renegade Independent Film Festival ("RIFF"), which will showcase films made exclusively by members of the TSA, including a sneak peek at For Abuela, the winner of the Short 'N Shoot contest over the summer and which is currently being filmed by Penumbra Entertainment.
